Abstract

This article is a brief introduction on the history of virtual reality devices, their characteristics, structure, and applications in the field of mental health. Firstly, an historical journey of the design and use of virtual reality devices is for mental health is presented. Secondly, the current applications of virtual reality for the treatment of mental health disorders are described. Finally, methodological and technical limitations are discussed.
